A Safe and Guided Donation Process

Safe and Meaningful

Birth tissue donation is a safe and gentle process that takes place after your baby is born. Only unused tissue after delivery is donated, and nothing about your birth experience, care, or time with your newborn is changed. Your donation offers hope and healing to others in need.

Guided Process, Handled with Care

Life Line Stem Cell’s trained staff guide you through each step — from completing simple consent forms to respectfully collecting the birth tissue after delivery. Donation is always free and handled with care and respect.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Donation happens after your placenta is delivered – once your focus is right where it belongs, on your new baby. Life Line Stem Cell’s trained staff handle the entire process – from consent to collection – working in a separate, designated area so your delivery team’s care and your birth plan are never disrupted.

No. Donation is always free – there’s no cost to you or your hospital, ever.

Collection takes place after your placenta is delivered. A Life Line team member will have already requested permission to be in the room, walked you through a simple FDA-approved consent form, and once the placenta arrives, they collect the cord blood and birth tissue in a designated area — separate from your recovery.

Most healthy mothers delivering at a Life Line partner hospital are eligible. A brief medical history questionnaire helps confirm your donation meets FDA safety standards – the same standards that govern all donated tissue used in clinical care. Not sure if your hospital partners with Life Line? Call (260) 749-9105 or our hospital page to find out.

No. Cord blood and birth tissue donation has nothing to do with cloning. The cells collected are simply stored or used to support treatment and research – they are never used to create a copy of your baby. This process is safe, regulated, and focused entirely on healing.
